Arivum Anbum: Kamal Haasan’s cry for love in the time of hardships

Arivum Anbum Lockdown Song

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who has been critical of the government’s handling of the migrants during the lockdown, has released a song in collaboration with several artists from the Tamil entertainment industry crying out for love in the time of hardships.

The song ‘Arivum Anbum has lyrics penned by Kamal Haasan and features his vocals along with celebrities Bombay Jayashree, Andrea Jeremiah, Anirudh, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Siddharth Shankar Mahadevan, Sid Sriram and many others.

With strong lyrics which speak of how love is the only weapon strong enough to win this battle, Kamal Haasan has used the power of music to voice out his cry for equality with the chorus repeatedly saying ‘Before speaking about what’s right and equality, first we’ve got to right ourselves. We have to understand that every single life getting hurt is our family.’

With visual imagery highlighting the hard-working healthworkers and corona warriors interspersed with the treatment of migrants including scenes of disinfectants being sprayed, the actor-politician says that our knowledge and love are the only things that are immortal in this world.

The music for the song has been composed by Ghibran, a regular collaborator of Kamal Haasan. Different artists have recorded their portions from their own places and the individual portions have been edited together to create this anthem of love.
